Opening the Shutters

Here, They are Called Volet

It doesn't matter whether the forecast
is hot or cold

I am up and have started the coffee
it's dripping into the pot
as I draw back the curtains,
swing open the the windows,
and unlatch the volet.

Back home they are called shutters
to shut things out.

Four sets of volet pushed back
against the exterior wall to let inside
every possible sunbeam available.
I pour my coffee.

I take a sip then put the cup down,
picking up a brush.

A closed volet wouldn't stop
a muse from entering.
But, why take that chance?
